SAFETY ADVISEMENTS

  • All persons entering Skate City facilities or participating in any roller skating activity do so at their own risk. Skate City is not responsible for any personal injuries, losses, or damages that may occur on our premises.
  • Roller skating is a physical activity that requires a certain level of fitness performance from participants. Each participant should evaluate their personal physical capability before deciding to participate in any roller skating activity.
  • By its’ very nature, roller skating has an inherent risk of falling, coming into contact with other skaters, or sustaining serious personal injury. Any person who enters Skate City facilities, or participates in any roller skating activity, automatically assumes the risk of injury and is agreeing to participate after assessing these risks.
  • Skate City strongly recommends that all customers, regardless of age or skating ability, use personal protective equipment such as helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. The use of personal protective equipment may possibly reduce the likelihood of serious injury.
  • Customers with medical conditions or pre-existing injuries that would impact their ability to maintain balance and coordination, should consult with a medical professional prior to engaging in any roller skating activity. Additionally, customers who are pregnant should consult with a physician prior to engaging in any roller skating activity.
  • Skate City’s entertainment programming features lighting that may flash or strobe. Individuals who are or may be sensitive to rapid lighting changes should use caution.
  • Roller skating participants should wear clothing that is comfortable and conducive to physical activity. Pant legs should not extend down past the soles of the skating boots, and no loose clothing items should extend down near the components of the roller skates being worn.
  • When using personally owned roller skating equipment, Skate City recommends that all skaters inspect their equipment prior to every use. Additionally, Skate City strongly encourages all skaters to properly lace or secure skating equipment as designed and intended by the skate manufacturer. Any modifications to personally owned skating equipment, or wearing of equipment in a manner not intended by the manufacturer, could create additional safety risks for the participant and others. Skate City reserves the right to inspect any personally owned roller skating equipment prior to use in our facilities. Further, Skate City also reserves the right to prohibit the use of any personally owned roller skating equipment that is deemed unsafe or used in a manner that may create a hazard.

ROLLER SKATING SAFETY RULES

  • All roller skaters shall skate in a manner that is within their physical skating ability. Skaters must always maintain a safe speed and level of control that would allow them to immediately stop or change directions if necessary.
  • No rough housing, horseplay, tag play, or chasing is allowed.
  • When on the skating rink, skaters must remain skating at all times. Sitting on or standing along any wall while on the rink surface is prohibited. If skaters need to stop for any reason, they should exit the skating rink area.
  • The use of cellular phones or personal electronic devices, in a manner that distracts the skater, is not allowed. Skaters may use headphones and listen to music on their mobile devices, but should exit the skating rink when interacting with their devices.
  • Skaters must always skate in the designated direction and flow of traffic. This direction is usually in a counter-clockwise circle, often referred to as the “regular skating direction”. Skating against the flow of traffic creates a risk for all skaters and is not permitted.
  • Parents or adults are not allowed to pick up or carry children while wearing skates.
  • Skaters are prohibited from intentionally falling or sliding at any time.
  • Backwards skating is allowed during adult skating events, and at designated times. When backwards skating is authorized, skaters must always look over their shoulder and maintain constant visual awareness of activity behind them. Management reserves the right to restrict backwards skating at any time.

Skate City reserves the right to suspend or revoke skating privileges, or eject any patron from the premises for violating Skate City Safety Rules.
